Charlotte Rayner

Personal Profile

Charlotte is Emeritus Professor at Portsmouth University, UK.  She has been involved in academic research since the mid 1990’s when she completed the first major UK survey on workplace bullying for the BBC.  She has always worked closely with employers seeking to understand the mechanisms needed for successful anti-bullying and harassment programmes.  In 2008 she completed a large government-funded study among private sector employers of Great Britain to locate the pillars of effective intervention.  Charlotte has a PhD from Manchester, an MBA from Cass Business School and a first degree in Psychology from Newcastle. She writes on the topic of bullying at work and negative behaviour for professional and academic publications.  In recent years she has been interested in how the positive psychology ‘Meaning at Work’ field could be levered to enable prevention and intervention strategies at the individual and corporate levels.

Research Interests

Charlotte’s research interests include but are not limited to bullying & harassment and stress prevention in workplaces as well as the role of meaning and wellbeing as intervention strategies.
